About Musikscool

“By the end of today you will have written and recorded an original  5 track music album and published it to iTunes.

You will also have raised £10,000 for charity TODAY from sales and sponsorship of your efforts.

You’ll also have arranged PR for your achievements today, including press and TV coverage, and you will have made a 10 minute documentary of the event.

Good luck!”

Pretty much the opening words of a Musikscool event.

Whether we are working in a corporate environment or in a school, we are in essence asking the group to set up and run a business within one day, for real.  This is not a simulation, it is a real activity for a real life customer, who more often than not is in the room with them.  We have run this event successfully so many times over 10 years that we do not blink when we issue the brief.  We know it is completely doable once the group starts to believe in themselves.

                                                   The “shock and awe” moment

This challenge will stress them, without having to get cold and wet.  As a result the Musikscool team of seasoned business people will have the chance to very quickly learn a great deal about the default behaviours of the people in the room.  From that we can do all sorts of things, from personal feedback to drawing out team themes and implications, coaching, team planning and so on.

What do individuals get out of it?

Apart from the shared emotional experience of achieving something worthwhile and permanent that they originally thought impossible, and the sense of pride and satisfaction when they hear and see the results, individuals walk away with:

  • revised Mental Limits: a new perspective on what is possible
  • an new or revised insight into how business works
  • an expanded Comfort Zone: like a balloon, once inflated, it never goes back to its original size
  • feedback and observations on key behaviours, which can be used back at work or for self reflection and as the start of a personal development plan for young people
  • further self awareness, and some important thoughts about what type of activities they are best suited to
  • Energy, pride, euphoria, satisfaction
  • A musical collection which will always mean more to them than any other music they will ever own.
